There are floral arrangements I create to celebrate life’s happiest moments— anniversaries, birthdays, new babies, weddings. And then there are the flowers I design for life’s most difficult moments. Funeral and sympathy flowers hold an incredibly special place in my heart. When a family comes to me after losing someone they love, I understand that they are not simply ordering flowers. They are trusting Luxe & You with a small but meaningful part of how they will honor and remember someone who mattered deeply to them. I don’t take that responsibility lightly.
I Understand Grief Personally
My love for designing funeral and sympathy flowers comes, in part, from my own experiences with loss. I have walked through the deaths in my own family, and I know how overwhelming those days can feel. When grieving, there are so many decisions to make and the simplest decisions can feel difficult. Having experienced those moments myself has changed the way I approach funeral and sympathy flowers.
I know that behind every order is someone who loved the deceased. Behind every casket spray, standing spray, arrangement, or small floral tribute is a story. There are memories, relationships, traditions, inside jokes, favorite colors, favorite flowers, and all the little details that made that person who they were. That’s what I want the flowers to reflect.
Flowers Have a Place in the Way We Say Goodbye
Flowers cannot take away grief. But I believe they can bring beauty, softness, comfort, and a sense of love into a room during a very difficult time.
There is something powerful about walking into a funeral or memorial service and seeing flowers that feel like the person being remembered.
Maybe it’s a particular rose they always grew in their garden. Maybe it’s a favorite color. Perhaps they loved wildflowers, hydrangeas, lilies, or something beautifully simple.
My goal is to listen carefully and create flowers that help tell that person’s story.
Every Detail Matters to Me
When I’m designing funeral and sympathy flowers, I’m thinking about much more than how an arrangement looks. I’m thinking about the loved ones who will see it.
I want the flowers to arrive fresh, beautiful, and thoughtfully designed. I want the colors, textures, flowers, and finishing details to feel very intentional. I want delivery to be handled with care and professionalism because I know the family already has enough to carry.

One of the greatest privileges of owning a floral studio in Richmond, Virginia, is being able to serve families in my own community during these deeply personal moments.
Sometimes I meet families who know exactly what they want. Sometimes they have only a photograph, a favorite color, or a few words to describe the person they loved. That’s enough. I can help take those pieces and thoughtfully translate them into flowers.
And when a grieving family tells me that the flowers were beautiful, that they reminded them of their loved one, or that they were exactly what they hoped for, those words truly stay with me. Because this work is personal to me, too.
